The Nova Blast U4 is on the way

There’s something magical about the anticipation of a new arcade cab. It’s that perfect blend of nostalgia and excitement, like waiting for the lights of the arcade to flicker on before the first credit drop. For me, that moment is about to hit with the arrival of my Nova Blast U4—a candy cab that strikes the perfect balance between retro vibes and modern convenience.

Why the Nova Blast U4?

In the world of arcade cabs, there’s always that tug-of-war between going fully authentic and leaning into practicality. After plenty of research and weighing my options, the Nova Blast U4 stood out as the ideal choice for three key reasons:

1. No CRT, No Problem

While CRT purists might swear by the glow and scanlines of a classic tube, I was ready to step into the future without sacrificing quality. The Nova Blast U4 ditches the CRT in favor of a high-grade LCD that still respects the original 4:3 aspect ratio while providing crisp visuals and zero geometry drift. Plus, there’s no worrying about convergence issues or the gradual decay that comes with aging CRTs. It’s a modern solution that still hits that arcade sweet spot.

2. Less Maintenance, More Game Time

Owning an authentic cab comes with its fair share of maintenance—power supply quirks, monitor calibration, and the occasional deep dive into electrical work. The Nova Blast U4 cuts that hassle down dramatically. Solid-state components, simplified wiring, and modern display tech mean I can focus more on perfecting my bullet-dodging skills and less on chasing down obscure parts or troubleshooting flaky hardware.

3. Ultra Compatibility for Endless Options

One of the biggest selling points? Ultra compatibility. Whether it’s running OG PCB boards, JAMMA harnesses, or going full digital with emulators and multi-cade setups, the U4 is ready to handle it. I wanted a cab that could house everything from Battle Garegga to Crimzon Clover, without needing to constantly rewire or reconfigure. The Nova Blast U4 makes that swap seamless, future-proofing my setup for whatever games I throw at it—be it 90s bullet hell classics or indie gems pushing modern shmup boundaries.

The Hype is Real

There’s a certain energy in waiting for your new cab to arrive. You start envisioning the setup—the custom stick layout, the soundtrack of synthwave and aggro-tech thumping in the background, and that soft neon glow illuminating the room. For me, the Nova Blast U4 isn’t just a machine; it’s the core of my personal arcade dream.

Soon, it'll be time to boot it up, drop that first virtual coin, and dive deep into the pixel-drenched chaos that makes shmups so timeless. And you can bet I’ll be sharing every moment of that journey.

Stay tuned for the unboxing, setup, and my first impressions. The Blast is coming!
